The Robert D. and Billie Ray Center at Drake University is dedicated to improving civility and developing ethical leaders throughout the world. The Ray Center helps create strong, vibrant communities that value positive, healthy relationships and respectful behavior. Through public awareness and programming grounded in research, The Ray Center provides character and leadership development strategies to positively impact the lives of others.
The Ray Center provides character and leadership development strategies that benefit people of all ages and can meet goals in families, schools, workplaces, athletic teams, and community organizations.
The Ray Center partners with two nationally-renowned character and ethics organizations. CHARACTER COUNTS!, a project of the Josephson Institute, is the most widely used character development initiative in the nation. Excellence With Integrity programming from the Institute for Excellence & Ethics provides research based strategies that enhance culture needed for achieving excellence without compromising integrity. The Ray Center partners with these organizations to provide exceptional resources and professional development across the nation.
The Ray Center, in partnership with the Institute for Excellence & Ethics, is working to expand the practical application of STEM 2.0 with the scale-up of curricular resources aligned to the STEMconnector Employability Skills Capability Platform. Education institutions are using these flexible and adaptable resources to impact students in classrooms, internships, and other educational experiences with strategies distilled from the latest research. The Ray Center works with institutions to bring intentionality to employability skills in order to help students develop competencies for career success.
