ATK’s partnership with education encompasses local, regional and national initiatives to engage students in becoming scientifically literate and prepared to enter the workforce as leaders and problem-solvers. Partnerships range from mentoring students at local science fairs to funding conferences and competitions to providing students with opportunities outside the classroom to explore career interests and test their skills. 1) EYH-STEM
ATK Aerospace Group sponsors Northern Utah’s Expanding Your Horizons in Science and Mathematics conference, continuing a valuable tradition and reaching more than 5,000 young women over the past 12 years. The conference’s goal is to excite young women in grades six through nine about science, math and technical careers. Attendees selected from 28 different workshops that included learning about what it takes to be a veterinarian, rocket scientist, chemist, engineer and physical therapist.
2) USAF Museum Foundation
Through a $100,000 ATK pledge to the USAF Museum Foundation, we have teamed with the Foundation to support the National Museum of the USAF and foundation’s focus on strengthening connections with our youth to greater exposure to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) interactive events and activities. These efforts serve to motivate and educate our youth about the importance of maintaining a strong technical workforce and encouraging STEM skill development.
3) Learning for Life Scholarship Program
ATK is proud to sponsor the Learning for Life Scholarship Program. The goal of the program is to encourage and assist children of ATK employees in their pursuit of post-high school education, whether they attend a vocational-technical school, junior college, or four-year college or university. The program awards up to 75 $1,000 scholarships each year. We believe in education and life-long learning as a company and as individuals who care about the future of our children and country. The Learning for Life Scholarship Program is a demonstration of this belief.
